MADRE is a capitalization project which showcases innovative practices and fosters the relations among actors dealing with urban and peri-urban agriculture in the Mediterranean. Involving 5 countries (France, Spain, Italy, Greece and Albania) and more than 250 stakeholders, MADRE developed a toolkit to make metropolitan agriculture a strategic asset for public policies and the AGRIMADRE Platform.
With the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding, several metropolitan cities and organizations took part to the Mediterranean Network on metropolitan agriculture and food systems. The signatory parties undertake to promote a more sustainable metropolitan agriculture, by exploiting its potentialities and make the economies more resilient, also after the project’s end.
